Dlamini-Zuma wins an ace

The ANC in the Free State has put its support behind presidential hopeful Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma to take over the baton as ANC president in December. The Free State is the first province to officially endorse Dlamini-Zuma. The Women’s League, Youth League and the Umkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans Association have also come out in support of Dlamini-Zuma. Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa has officially been nominated by the Northern Cape and the Western Cape, the smallest provinces in terms of how many delegates can be sent to the conference. ANC member’s lawyer confident they’ll win case surrounding Free State legal woes

ANC Free State members are angry that the province held a “surprise” provincial general council to consolidate branches’ leadership nominations ahead of the December national conference. Party members were caught off guard when an announcement was made on Monday. The province is still dealing with disputes from branch general meetings, held to nominate national leaders. Today members of the party were in cour challenging the processes towards the provincial elective conference.
