ANC may be ‘infiltrated by fanatics of lawfare’: ANCWL

JOHANNESBURG – The African National Congress Women’s League (ANCWL) in the Free State said it has “noted with disappointment” the Bloemfontein High Court ruling which found that 29 branch general meetings were unlawful and irregular. The court ruling on Wednesday read in part: “The provincial conference of ANC Free State scheduled for 1 to 3 December 2017 will be a nullity and cannot be held until the aforesaid meetings have been held in a lawful manner and in accordance with the constitution of the ANC”. ANC Aware Of Bid ‘To Disband’ Executive Committee

THE ANC in the province said it was aware of efforts ‘to disband’ the provincial executive committee. Provincial secretary William Bulwane confirmed to The New Age yesterday of having received a letter believed to be from an unknown ANC member in the province. Bulwane said the member had reportedly approached his lawyers to take up the matter on his behalf. Bekker Attorneys reportedly said in the letter to the ANC that its client identified as LS Mifi wanted the committee disbanded because its mandate had expired in April.
